After Matthew Boulton Pair 19thC Goat’s Head Vases
Based on the original Matthew Boulton design of the late 18th century, this is a pair of ‘Goat’s Head’ urn shaped vases probably dating to the mid 19th century.
The blue enamelled porcelain vases are in the manner of Sevres and are mounted in gilt bronze, the looped handles having goat’s head terminals. They would likely have had bronze covers originally.
In good order overall with some bubbling to the enamel below the bronze rim. Bit of tarnishing to the bases and the gilding could maybe do with a brightening up, if desired. No chips or cracks noted.
Blue maker’s mark to the interior of one vase.
They measure 19 cm high and the combined weight is 1438 grams.
