2 x George V Silver Spill Vases, W. Haseler, 1920
Here we have a striking pair of George V Sterling Silver Spill Vases. These tall, slender vases have round bases, weighted for stability and covered with green baize on the underside, from which rise elegant tapered stems which open out into a broad flower like top.
The vases are made in Birmingham by William Hair Haseler and date to 1920. Founded in the mid-1860s, William Hair Haseler, later W.H. Haseler Ltd, produced a very broad range of silverware from their premises in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter and remained in business up until the late 1930s.
Condition is good with just one small dent on one vase where the stem rises from the base plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after just over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The vases each stand 19.5cm / 7.7ins tall and are 7.5cm / 2.9ins in diameter across the top rim. The pair together weigh in at 262.7g / 9.3oz, which includes the small amount of weighting material in the bases.
The hallmarks on the bases are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter v for 1920 and the W H H makers' mark for W.H. Haseler Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
