1876 Unusual Silver & Cut Glass Sundial Inkwell sundial unusual silver
An unusual 19th century sterling silver and cut glass ink well, with the lid having a delicately formed sundial and the motto, 'I Tell Ye Hours Admist Ye Flowers'.

Maker's mark rubbed. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1876, remain legible.

The lid has a foliate design and antique clock in addition to the sundial and motto mentioned above. The lid opens to reveal a silver gilt interior. There is a small amount of tarnish to the silver rim when opened but otherwise the ink well remains in an excellent condition throughout.

A charming and unusual piece.
