Victorian Silver Trinket Dish, G'smiths & S'smiths

This is an elegant late Victorian Sterling Silver Trinket Dish. The dish is heart shaped with a crimped rim and an embossed design of scrolls and foliage around a central blank cartouche. This would look lovely on any dressing table or bedside cabinet today.
The trinket dish was made in London by the renowned Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company and dates to 1900, the last full year of Queen Victoria's long reign. Founded in 1880 by William Gibson and John Langman, The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company occupied a famous showroom at 112 Regent Street where they served a high end clientele with goods of the very finest quality. They manufactured at Clerkenwell in London and the Regent Works in Sheffield. In 1952 they amalgamated with Garrard & Co.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after 125 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dish is 10.2cm / 4ins from top to bottom and 10cm / 3.9ins wide. It weighs in at a respectable 41.3g / 1.4oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the top left of the base, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter e for 1900 and the G & S Co Ld makers' mark for The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd. There is also a registered design number of 324950, which dates the original design to 1898.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
