Victorian Silver Sugar Box 18thC German Style
Pretty and unusual late Victorian silver sugar box after an 18th century German style. Lovely, rounded fluted shaped body and lid, and set on 4 ornate cast scrolled feet with foliate terminals. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1899, maker James Dixon & Sons with marks to the side of the body, lid, knop, knop collar and nut.
It measures 5" (13cm) wide, 3 3/4" (9.5cm) deep and 5" (13cm) high and weighs 344g/11.1zt. Condition is very good but with a small area of repair to one of the creases between the flutes on the wall. Light surface wear appropriate for age. Lovely and clean inside. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
