Victorian Silver Pin Dish, William Comyns, 1892

A finest quality Victorian Sterling Silver Pin Dish from the late 19th century. It is made in London by renowned silversmiths William Comyns & Sons and dates to 1892. William Comyns is an important manufacturing silversmith who first set up in business around 1859 in London's Soho. In 1885 the firm became William Comyns & Sons by which time they were working in extensive premises in Beak Street. Comyns was renowned for making very high quality decorative silverware and his products were stocked by all the best retailers in London and elsewhere. A descendant of the company, now just called Comyns, is one of the last manufacturing silversmiths still operating in London. William Comyns silverware from the late 19th and early 20th century is much sought after today.
The Pin Dish is in good overall condition with no dings or dents but does have two very small holes just above the hallmarks where the raised silver has been polished through. It remains a very attractive piece which would grace any dressing table or make a lovely addition to a collection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dish is 11.5cm long, 6.8cm wide and weighs a respectable 36.1g.
The hallmarks, which are well struck and clear to read, are the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "R" for 1892 and the WC makers' mark for William Comyns & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers please enquire about shipping costs before making a purchase.
