This fine quality Victorian shaped oval trinket box has a has been hand hammered using a planishing hammer and has a gadrooned edge, the lid of the box has a vacant oval cartouche. This a stand out piece that will look gorgeous in your home, gracing you interior with class, style and sophistication.
Brief History
Henry Matthews was a Birmingham based silversmith who is particularly well known as a manufacturer of fine quality small items of silverware such as trinket boxes, card cases & scent bottles. His first mark was registered in June 1893 and the company ceased trading in 1930.
. His office was on Vittoria Street, Birmingham - a street that is famous for being part of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham,

In overall excellent condition, one very small dent to the base some age related scratches plus a small deeper scratch to the lid, some very minor tarnish marks mostly to the interior, their is a minor a minor manufacturing fault to one corner which is only noticeable upon very close inspection, the hinge is in excellent order and the box looks fabulous on display.
A beautiful antique silver box which will grace any fine silver collection. This piece would will look wonderful on display as well as serving a useable piece of silverware. Alternatively, this beautiful box would make the most wonderful present for a friend, relative or partner.
