Tireur D'Epine / Boy with Thorn by Barbedienne
This beautiful bronze is a 19th century F.Barbedienne sculpture, based on the famous ancient Greco Roman work which resides in the Palazzo dei Conservatory, Musei Capitoline Museum in Rome, Italy. This actual model is illustrated in the 1886 Barbedienne Bronzes D'Art catalogue. We can supply a copy of the relevant extract.
On a rectangular plinth the boy is seen pulling a thorn from his foot. The piece has a lovely light brown patina and is engraved F.Barbedienne Fondeur - the famous Paris workshop. It also has the Collas stamp. Overall height 12.5 inches (32cm). Condition is excellent. Preferred method of payment is by bank transfer (UK faster payment or to our €Euro account) which incurs no additional costs or charges.
