Superb Fine Large Irish Dish Ring Edward Johnson
Stunning large and very fine Irish silver dish ring smothered in fantastic cast and engraved decoration and fitted with a blue glass liner. The ring has a base decoration of scrolls and rambling flowers and vines interspersed with interesting characters including a seated musician playing a pipe, a goat, a cow and a shepherd holding a staff, also a finely engraved thatched cottage sitting in a meadow under the shade of a tree.
The fineness of the detail is just superb and it makes for a very interesting and fun piece beautiful for regular display. It also has a large vacant cartouche framed by scrolls. The liner fits perfectly and I have no reason to believe it is not original. Hallmarked for Dublin 1925, maker Edward Johnson. It is also separately stamped Edward Johnson Ltd suggesting they were the retailers also.
It measures 8 3/4" wide across the base, 7 1/4" wide across the rim and 3 7/8" high. The silver weighs 366g/11.8ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage to silver or liner and very light surface wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
