A superb fully hallmarked sterling silver Victorian christening mug in the original case. This beautiful solid silver christening mug was made in 1882 by Hilliard & Thomason. It is of superb quality & in the finest condition. The whole mug is decorated with hand chaste foliage shown in fine detail & engraved 'A.R.D'. The script is so ornate that the second letter also looks like a K & the third letter a T. The engraving is attractive that it really does not matter if these are the recipients initials as they form part of the ornate decoration. However, if this does matter to you, a jeweller could remove the engraved letters. The interior is still beautifully gilded & the piece shows no signs of use. The case is just delightful & in the most beautiful condition - finished off with black leather & gilded borders. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The interior case has rich royal blue silk piped cord & gilded borders. A top notch christening gift!

This superb Victorian christening mug measures 3 1/4" tall & weighs 98.2 grams.
