A sweet little sterling silver "mether" cup, in the traditional Irish quatrefoil form with tapering sides and shaped rim. Four applied shaped handles and simply decorated with four engraved rings running around the base. It would have been produced for use as a Christening mug or presentation cup. Hallmarked for London 1905, makers c(James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler).

It measures 5.8cm (2 1/4") high and 5.1cm (2") wide excluding the handles ( 7cm (1 3/4")) including. It weighs 66g / 2.1ozt.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair. Minor handling wear, the hallmarks are a little rubbed. It is free from any engraving.
