Silver pin dish with Royal Worcester Roundel 1912
This delightful little silver pin dish with its reeded border was made by the Birmingham silversmiths, Sanders & Mackenzie. It has a clear hallmark for Birmingham 1912. It is inset with a Royal Worcester ceramic roundel depicting fruits. The artist was 'Harry Martin', who has signed his work. A reveal to the base of the piece shows the Royal Worcester mark, again dated for 1912. Henry (Harry) Martin was a talented painter at Royal Worcester in the early 20th century. Sadly he died in Belgium on 15 Sep 1917 whilst serving his country during the First World War. The dish is 8.5cm in diameter, the roundel 5cm. Both are in very good condition with no evidence of restoration or repair.
