Silver Handled Grape Shears, USA / Germany, c.1910

This is a good quality pair of Early 20th Century Sterling Silver Handled Grape Shears. The shears have vine and grape decoration on the silver handles and plain steel blades for a clean cut. A Gothic style letter K is engraved on the side of one of the handles.
The silver handles are made by the Manchester Manufacturing Co of Providence, RI in the USA, whilst the steel blades are made by the famous German cutlers Vom Cleff & Co and would have been exported to the USA to be fitted into the silver handles. The shears date to the period c.1904-1914.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents in the silver and just a small amount of wear to the highly polished finish on the steel blades. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The shears are 16.9cm / 6.6ins long and weigh in at 73.4g / 2.6oz, which is of course a mixture of Sterling Silver and steel.
The marks on the inside of the silver handles are little rubbed but can still be read. They show the M with a bird to either side, which is the mark of the Manchester Manufacturing Co in the era 1904-14. The steel blades are clearly marked with Vom Cleff & Co, Germany.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the shears.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase and please be aware that some countries have restrictions on the import of steel bladed items.
