A charming solid silver compact in very good condition. The lid is decorated with intricate image of Parshuram. Who is one of the seven immortals or Chiranjivi, of Hinduism. He received an axe as a reward after undertaking terrible penance to please Shiva. Shiva then taught him the martial arts. Parshuram was a great hero who rid the world of kshatriyas twenty-one times over. His revenge for the king Kartavirya killing his father.The compact is fully hallmarked .939 high grade silver. The reflective nature of the lid & base make it difficult to photograph. In person it is much more attractive & the engraving on the silver outstandingly beautiful. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is good & gives an accurate reflection.
This vintage Persian niello compact mirror measures 5 cm & weighs 42.2 grams.
