Set of 6 Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Buttons, 1901
This is a beautiful set of 6 Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Buttons in their original purple velvet case.
The buttons feature delicate and typically Art Nouveau snowdrop floral designs, with each button being subtly different. The set is made by silversmiths Reynolds & Westwood in Birmingham in 1901. Samuel Reynolds & George Westwood founded their firm in the early 1890s, specialising in luxury personal items and carried on in business up until the First World War.
The buttons are in excellent condition and the case is in good condition with the velvet being just a little rubbed around the edges, only to be expected after nearly 120 years!
Each button is 1.7cm across and the set of 6 weighs 12.2g. They are a versatile size and could be used on antique, vintage or modern clothing or would make an elegant addition to a button collection.
The hallmarks on the front of each button are inevitably small but are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "b" for 1901 and the R&W makers' mark for Reynolds & Westwood.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery.
