Rare silver snuff box, Mr Popple, 1907 motorist
Very Rare silver snuff box in the form of an Edwardian motorist,known as Mr Popple, hallmarks chester 1907 maker CS & FS , Cornelius Saunders & Frank Shepherd, .
head lifts off with spoon attached, hallmark on spoon lion & g for 1907, hallmarks around base chester 1907, & RGD N0 490421.
detailed , cap & goggles, coat etched with 12 buttons, belt around back, lines etched as leather marks.
Mr Popple was a character in a musical comedy in 1906, one of the settings was a motor fair, Mr Popple arriving in his full motorist attire, cap, goggles, and long motoring coat, amusing sight at the time,
