The most exquisite & rare sterling silver figural match box compact. The outer case & inner lid have a stylish engine turned design of vertical lines with chevrons arranged in groups of eight to form the most delicate & pretty composition. The piece is fully hallmarked on the lid, inner lid, mirror bezel & base. These hallmarks show this was imported into London in 1925. The tab just in front of the hallmarks on the lid pulls out & as it does so the inner lid opens to reveal a delightful rectangular mirror surrounded by a golden bezel which is hallmarked with the London import mark & 925 (sterling silver). The mirror gives a good reflection. The powder well is gilded & the whole piece in excellent condition. Image four shows the base. The sponsors were Cohen & Charles - C&C into a chamfered rectangle. Measures almost 4" when fully open & 2 1/4 " closed & weighs 45.5 grams.
