Gorham Chantilly Silver Fish Serving Fork
This is a top quality late 19th or early 20th century American Sterling Silver Fish Serving Fork in the Chantilly pattern. The fork has the initial M engraved in Gothic style at the top of the stem.
The fork is made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company in Providence, RI and dates to between 1895, when the Chantilly pattern was launched and around 1915. One of the most famous names in American silver, Gorham was founded by Jabez Gorham in 1831 and by the end of the nineteenth century was attracting some of the most accomplished designers and silversmiths in the world.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the surface wear that you would expect after over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The serving fork is 19cm / 7.5ins long and weighs in at a substantial 60.9g / 2.1oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The marks on the underside of the stem are easy to read. They show PAT. 1895, the launch date of the Chantilly pattern, the lion, anchor and Gothic G pseudo hallmarks that are the Gorham trademark of this period and the word STERLING.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
