Georgian Silver & Cowrie Shell Snuff Box c.1810
Very nice Georgian cowrie shell and silver snuff box, c.1810. Formed from a half shell and mounted with a plain silver mount with reeded edge. An invisible hinged opening is decorated with small areas of bright cut engraving. This inside of the lid is gilded and engraved with B. KING under a crown. Unmarked otherwise.
It measures 3" long, 1 1/2" wide and 1" high. Condition is excellent with a just a few small marks on the shell and some light surface wear to the silver. The bright cut engraving a little rubbed but such shallow engraving often is from this period. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
