George V Silver Fruit Knife In Case, 1921

A truly exceptional George V fruit knife with a beautifully engraved sterling silver blade and an exquisite carved mother of pearl handle. Even better, it comes with its original case (rare these days) and has a blank cartouche. The knife is made in Sheffield in 1921 by Brookes & Crookes and is of the highest quality. This would have been a true luxury purchase back in the 1920s. John Brookes and Thomas Crookes worked together at the Atlantic Works in Sheffield from the mid-1880s up to the start of WW2. They are particularly known for their fruit knives and small manicure pieces.
The fruit knife is in lovely condition with no dings or dents to the silver blade and no damage to the mother of pearl handle. The blade folds neatly into the handle and the knife fits securely into its case, which is scuffed on the outside but fully intact. It could be used today or would make a lovely addition to any collection.
Fully extended the fruit knife is 14.2cm long and weighs 26.1g, although this not of course all silver.
The hallmarks, which are well struck and clear to read, are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "d" for 1921 and the B & C makers' mark for Brookes & Crookes.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers please enquire about shipping costs before making a purchase and please be aware that some countries have restrictions about importing knives of all kinds.
