Exquisite Georgian English Silver Snuff Box c1810
An exquisite, very good quality, George III, English Silver Snuff Box. The box was made in Birmingham and dates from c1810.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "WP" for William Pugh, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Monarch's Head duty mark and the anchor Birmingham town mark. The date letter is worn, however William Pugh is recorded as working in Birmingham c1801 - 1816, therefore this box would date from c1810.
The box has lovely engraving both lid and base, very similarly engraved, the lid having a blank oval cartouche to the centre, this engraved on the base (see photos).
The box measures approximately 70mm x 42mm x 16mm. The weight is 58.9g
A lovely quality snuff box that would enhance any collection.
It is in excellent overall condition. Specialists in Antique Pocket Watches & Vintage Wristwatches, Jewellery, Silver (including Scottish Provincial),Good Quality Antiques & Works of Art.
