Edwardian Silver Pepper Shaker, Walker & Hall 1906

This is an elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Pepper Shaker. The shaker is in Georgian Revival style with a round pedestal foot, wrythen decoration around the lower part of the body and a domed pierced lid with a light gold wash on it. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The pepper shaker is made by famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and assayed in Chester in 1906. The firm was founded by George Walker in 1845 with Henry Hall joining in 1853 to form Walker & Hall. Hugely successful and very highly regarded they remained in business until they were merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pepper shaker stands 7.1cm / 2.8ins high and is 2.9cm / 1.1ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs in at a respectable 13.5g / 0.48oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the side of the body, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the date letter F for 1906 and the distinctive W & H in a pennant makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
