Edwardian Arts & Crafts Silver Bowl & Stand
A lovely rose bowl type pedestal bowl and weighted stand in the arts and crafts style with roundel decoration and stepped detail. The hallmarks do not match but this set has clearly been designed to be together and with a retailer mark under the bowl for Jays of Oxford Street I presume the retailer for some reason commissioned the 2 parts separately or possibly changed maker of the piece over the course of a couple of years. The bowl is marked for Jay, Richard Attenborough Co. Limited, Chester 1908 and the stand for James Dixon & Sons Limited, Sheffield 1906.
The bowl measures 11.5cm (4 1/2") wide and 8.5cm (3 3/8") high and weighs 128g/4.1ozt and the stand measures 9.7cm (3 7/8") wide and 4cm (1 5/8") high and weighted. The whole stands at 12cm (4 3/4") high. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs, very fractional distortion of the bowl rim and light surface wear. Christmas Posting we are posting up until Monday 23rd December!
