Antique Silver Apostle Spoons Robert Pringle 1911
Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this complete set of superb quality fully hallmarked George V period silver Apostle tea or coffee spoons presented delightfully in their original fitted box. These spoons were made by the well known silversmith, Robert Pringle, and are a fine set indeed. The apostle is depicted on the back and front of the spoons, which is a particularly nice touch, showing attention to detail rendering the apostles hair and his robes.
Each of these fine quality spoons have an identical rendering of an apostle holding a book. Apostle spoons were first seen in fifteenth century Europe and were given as baptism presents. This marvelous set is a reference to these historical spoons and the details are as follows.

Condition Report
The spoons:
In overall excellent condition for their 110 year age, with scratches and tarnish marks consistent with age, however no dents or significant wear, a fine example.
The box:
The original fitted box is overall very good condition with a lovely purple velvet and satin interior however the clasp does not completely close firm (flush) but still holds the spoons safely and securely. There is noticeable wear to the base of the box with a very slight rip and remnants of a sticker and general age related wear all round, but a clean, presentable box overall. Please see the above photographs as this forms part of the condition report.
