This is a rare & very beautiful sterling silver compact made c.1940. The lid has an engine turned design of vertical lines, as does the base. As you can see the lid is also engraved with the most beautiful flowers & foliage. The compact has the maker's mark 'F.S' & marked '925' sterling silver. The mirror is excellent & gives a perfect reflection. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. Such a good quality compact with a spring loaded catch that ensures the lid glides open. The original pouch & sifter are in place. This compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder. The whole compact is in excellent condition.
This solid silver compact measures 3" & it weighs 105.1 grams.
