A Georgian silver vinaigrette. IT. Joseph Taylor.

A small engraved silver box -a typical patch box but used as a vinaigrette. The lid is engraved with leaves and a zigzag border. The back of the lid is stamped 'IT' probably for Joseph Taylor and there is a deliberate hole made in the centre so the perfume from the sponge could escape. The base contains a bit of sponge and is stamped 'sterling'. c1780-1815.
