2 x George V Silver Toast Racks, Asprey & Co, 1928

Here we have a charming Pair of Small George V Sterling Silver Toast Racks. Each rack holds four pieces of toast. The bases are oblong with rounded corners and stand on four ball feet. The dividers have low broad arches and the central ones have a finger ring handle.
The toast racks were made by the famous company Asprey & Co and assayed in Birmingham in 1928. The firm was founded by William Asprey in Mitcham, Surrey in 1781. Under William’s son Charles the company moved to Bond Street in central London, where they still reside today. They quickly established a name for high quality, luxury goods, particularly antique jewellery, silverware, watches, leather goods and luggage. They remain one of the most respected luxury brands in the world.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each toast rack is 7cm / 2.75ins by 4.8cm / 1.9ins and stands 5.7cm / 2.2ins high. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 71.6g / 2.5oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the undersides of the bases, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter D for 1928 and the A & Co Ltd makers' mark for Asprey & Co Ltd. They also have the retail stamp ASPREY.
Shipping in the UK is £12 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the toast racks.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
