2 x Edwardian Silver Mustard Pots, Chester, 1906

This is an elegant Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Mustard Pots with their original Blue Glass Liners. The mustard pots are drum shaped with pierced bodies, rectangular handles, stepped lids and fan thumb rests. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The mustard pots were made by Nathan & Hayes of Birmingham and assayed in Chester in 1906. George Nathan and Ridley Hayes began their partnership in Birmingham in the late 1880s. They are particularly known for their good quality silver tableware, which they primarily assayed in Birmingham, and more personal items such as buckles, buttons and dressing table jars, which they mostly assayed in Chester. They remained in business up until around 1920.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents in the silver, no damage to the pierced decoration and just the minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of use. There are no chips or cracks in the glass liners. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each mustard pot is 5.7cm / 2.2ins from rim to handle, 4.4cm / 1.7ins in diameter and 5.4cm / 2.1ins high. The pair together, without the glass liners, weigh in at 68.7g / 2.4oz of solid Sterling Silver and all in they weigh 134.4g / 4.7oz.
The hallmarks, on the top rims of the bodies, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword & three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the date letter F for 1906 and the G.N over R.H makers' mark for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the mustard pots.
