2 x Art Deco Gilt & Enamel Coffee Spoons, c.1930s
Here we have a very attractive pair of Norwegian Art Deco Sterling Silver Gilt and Enamel Coffee Spoons.The silver spoons have all over gilding with the stems decorated in classic Art Deco style, one with a red central band and one with a yellow central band.
The spoons are made in Sandefjord, Norway by Aksel Holmsen and date to around the 1930s. Aksel Holmsen established the firm in 1904, being succeeded by his son Ivar in 1950. The business ceased trading in 1971. They used the trademark Norne.
Condition is good with no dings or dents and no damage to the enamel. The gilding on the red spoon has rubbed a little thin in places but still looks very smart. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoons are each 9.6cm / 3.8ins long and the pair together weigh in at a respectable 16.8g / 0.6oz.
The underside of the stems are marked 925S for 925/1000 grade Sterling Silver, the N mark for the Association of Norwegian Goldsmiths & Silversmiths and Norne, the trademark of Aksel Holmsen.
