This is a stunning pair of extremely fine Japanese cloisonné enamel vases with intricate silver wirework inlay depicting birds in blossom trees on a black ground, unsigned, Meiji Period c.1900.

The perching birds are brightly coloured with blue heads and backs, and red legs and beaks whereas the flying birds have grey plumage with brown head and back. They probably represent the male and female Asian Fairy-Blue Bird respectively. The trees bearing the white blossom emerge from a flower bed containing three types of flowering plant including Irises.

Dimensions: Height 24.5 x Diameter 10 cm. Diameter of the top and base 6.5 cm.

Condition: These vases are in excellent condition with no damage.
