A set of 12 magnificent George III silver dinner plates with a refined shaped gadroon boarder. Each engraved with a wonderfully crisp coat of arms which is that of Barnard quartering Gee impaling Elliot, for Henry Gee Barnard of Cave Castle born 1789 married 1834 Elizabeth Mary, daughter of Henry Elliot of Colonmel, Henry died without issue in 1858. Plates are from a larger set and are numbered, however they are not in a sequence. Each is marked with a scratch weight which varies from plate to plate. The pieces of this fine and impressive four piece tea and coffee service have an Art Deco style oval cornered form onto a shaped spreading rectangular foot. There is subtle engraved decoration to the upper border of each piece. The teapot is large and impressive. The teapot and coffee jug have hinged, subtly domed covers which retain the original painted carved semi-circular wood finials. This is a substantial, fully hallmarked, silver mounted Kluk Kluk Decanter. Also known as a Kuttrolf or Cluck Cluck Decanter - this particular piece is a fine example. Fully Hallmarked for (respected silversmith and supplier to top London retailers of the period such as Liberty, Henry Louis and Carrington) William Comyns, London 1923. With a wonderful balloon blown glass stopper, it is in fabulous condition.
