George III Silver Teaspoon, London, 1808
This is a nice quality George III Sterling Silver Teaspoon in the traditional Old English pattern. The spoon has the initials WTH neatly engraved at the top of the stem in the style of the period.
The teaspoon is made in London in 1808 but unfortunately the makers\' mark is very rubbed and we have been unable to identify it with any certainty, although it may be for Peter & William Bateman.
Condition is good with just one truly tiny ding in the bowl and the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 210 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoon is 12.6cm / 4.9ins long and weighs a very respectable 15.5g / 0.54oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are somewhat rubbed but with the exception of the makers\' mark they are easy enough to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter N for 1808, the George III duty mark and the rubbed makers\' mark.
