6 x Victorian Silver Teaspoons, J.H. Potter, 1897
This is a set of six top quality and very heavy late Victorian Sterling Silver Teaspoons. The spoons are made in Sheffield by silversmith John Henry Potter and date to 1897. John Henry Potter operated from the Rockingham Works in Sheffield from the early 1890s up to the mid-1930s. His company produced a selection of good quality silver and silver plated items, primarily cutlery, flatware and tableware and these Teaspoons are at the very top of his range.
These stylish spoons have an Art Nouveau feel to them with organic decoration at the top of the finial and fluted sides to the stem. They are elegantly engraved with the initials "JWC" and the hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read.
The Teaspoons are in very good condition with no dings or dents and only minimal wear, which suggests they haven't seen a great deal of use over the last 123 years. This is a lovely set of six fully matched Victorian teaspoons that are as good to use today as they were when they were made or would grace any collection. Please make sure to view all the photos.
The spoons are each 13.6cm long and the set of 6 together weigh in at a very hefty 174.4g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "e" for 1897 and the JHP makers' mark for John Henry Potter.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
