Unusual Large Silver Gilt Sugar Caster Mappin & Webb
Unusual large silver gilt sugar caster in a lovely deco shape, reminiscent of a lighthouse with octagonal tapering lower part rising to a bulbous upper part and domed lid with stepped edge and attractive concave and stepped knop. The upper part and lid are finely engraved with attractive piercings. It has a rather sweet golden wedding anniversary dedication engraved on one side. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1939, makers Mappin & Webb to both lid and base and with Mappin & Webb retailer marks also to the base.
It measures 17.8cm (7") high and 7.6cm (3") wide across the base and weighs 289g/9.3ozt. Condition is very good with no damage or dents, no wear to the gilding and a few light surface marks only. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
