George V Silver Napkin Ring, Harrison Bros, 1933
This is a smart George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The ring is oval in shape with deep sides that are completely plain with no decoration or initials. It would fit in with any style of table, ancient or modern.
The napkin ring is made in Sheffield by silversmiths Harrison Brothers & Howson and dates to 1933. The firm was founded when brothers James & Henry Harrison and their partner James Howson purchased an old Sheffield firm called Thomas Sansom & Sons in 1847. They opened a showroom in London's prestigious Hatton Garden district in 1866 and remained a family run business until becoming part of Viner's Ltd in the 1920s. They continued to operate as a separate business within Viner's up until the late 1950s.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The oval napkin ring measures 5cm / 1.9ins by 4cm / 1.6ins and is 3.1cm / 1.2ins deep. It weighs a respectable 32.6g / 1.1oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter q for 1933 and the G H makers' mark for George Howson of Harrison Brothers & Howson.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
