Early 20th Century Silver Stamp Holder, c.1900-20
This is a charming Early 20th Century Sterling Silver Stamp Holder in the form of an envelope. The holder has a hinged lid with a snap clasp, a ring for attaching it to a watch chain or chatelaine and scroll engraving across the whole body. The cartouche on the back is blank.
The stamp holder is marked Sterling Silver but doesn't have a makers' mark, so we can't say who manufactured it but it is likely to be British or possibly American and dates to around 1900 to 1920.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. The hinge and clasp are both in full working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The stamp holder is 2.8cm by 2cm and weighs in at 5.1g of solid Sterling Silver.
