Silver overlaid Cranberry Wine Decanter circa 1914
A rare survivor, this wine decanter is a fine hand blown cranberry glass which has been encased in superb sterling silver, art nouveau styled tracery from the top of the stopper to the base. This is fully assayed and hallmarked silver work, not a simple flash of silver attached to the glass. The collar and the stopper are both assayed for Birmingham 1914, the makers mark is worn but can be deciphered as being for the respected silversmith George Randle. The form and quality of this item can't be underplayed, it is a great shape and the stopper has been given that extra attention with a conical finish to the end. We have tried to ensure the images pick up on the detail.
The condition is excellent, there is no issue to any aspect of the piece, slight foot marks from use, but otherwise no damage.
It stands 14 inches overall and has a 4 inch diameter ( unpacked weight is 705 gms)
