We have for sale the perfect gift for the bookworm in the family, a very attractive Scottish inspired Chester hallmarked silver and amethyst bookmark by the silversmith William Henry Leather of Pitsford Street, Birmingham.

This lovely bookmark consists of an attractively engraved Scottish thistle engraved handle terminating in a lovely faux faceted glass amethyst, which extends to a blade in the form of a trowel. The blade carries full Chester Hallmarks for 1913, along with the makers marks for William Henry Leather of Birmingham. William Henry Leather, like a number of other silver jewellery manufacturers such as Charles Horner, was known to have a proportion of his work hallmarked in Chester.

The Bookmark is 3.25 inches (8.25cm) long and is in a very good antiques condition other than some rubbing of the W of the WHL makers mark.
