Silver & Scottish Agate Antique Napkin Ring 1908
Here we have for sale a beautiful and seldom seen thistle design Edwardian hallmarked silver napkin ring. This piece has a stunning engraved decoration and inlaid with Scottish agate.
Joseph Cook created themed silverware representing the celtic nations of Scotland and Ireland. This is a Scottish themed napkin ring evident in the thistle motif, the Scottish agate and the celtic foliate engraved decoration. A lover of Scotland and its traditions would love this item. Condition report:
Firstly, There is a slight crack to one of the stones, see photos, this is quite minor imperfection and only noticeable under close inspection. Secondly, there are some light marks on the cartouche, three horizontal lines and a mark resembling the letter 'T', perhaps someone has tried to personalise it in the past. There is the usual wear, such as surface scratches, consistent with age. However, the napkin ring is in remarkable good order for its 112 year age with no dents and is not misshapen in any way, which is often the case with napkin rings.
