RARE set of 7 Japanese pottery figures japanese glazed pottery %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Here we have a VERY RARE set of seven Japanese 19th century glazed pottery figure groups. They depict "The Tormentors" monkeys in a variety of poses along with a Japanese man.

I don't really know an aweful lot about them other than they are obviously at least 19th century possibly earlier and they are very interesting. I personally haven't seen anything quite like them before. They are glazed and painted pottery.

When I purchased them they were very dirty having spent many years stored in an attic. They have been very carefully cleaned in soap and water with a toothbrush.

Indivdual pictures are available for all seven of the group, please just ask if you would like to see them all.

There is slight damage to one of them.
PricePrice is for the full set of 7 groups Date Mid to late 19th century  Mid 19th Century Antiques Material Salt Glazed Earthenware Origin Japanese Condition Slight damage to a couple of them but basically very good for age Item code as273a032 Status Sold
