Rare Charles Horner 9ct Gold Thimble Birm. 1901
We have for sale a Charles Horner 9ct gold thimble unusually hallmarked for Birmingham.

This Charles Horner 9ct Gold thimble has a shell pattern top and a flat border with turned over rim. The thimble carries full hallmarks for Birmingham 1901, along with the Charles Horner makers mark.

Charles Horner normally had items hallmarked at the Chester assay office, however a very small number of items were assayed in Birmingham. Thus Birmingham Assayed Charles Horner thimbles are very rare.

The thimble weighs 3.1g and is a very good condition, however, the the right hand side of the H in the Charles Horner makers mark is rubbed and the right hand side of the 9ct gold fineness mark is rubbed but legible.
