Pair Of Victorian Silver Salts, London, 1892
This is a pair of finest quality Victorian Sterling Silver Salts with crinkle rim decoration and standing on bun feet. The Salts were made in London in 1892 by famous silversmiths Hukin & Heath, best known for their association with Dr Christopher Dresser, who designed many items for them. As you would expect from Hukin & Heath, these are well made items in a good gauge of silver. There is no engraving or personalisation of any kind. The hallmarks on the side of each of the salts are a little rubbed but still clear to read.
The Salts are in good overall condition with no dings or dents, just a small amount of salt marking and some regular wear as is to be expected after over 125 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description.
The Salts are each 3.7cm long by 3cm wide and stand 2.4cm high. Together they weigh a respectable 29.1g of solid sterling silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter R for 1892 and the JTH over JHM makers' mark for John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath.
