A commanding heraldic fire screen bearing the arms of Malvern College. The screen is formed with a shaped top and studded leather field, centred by a raised relief heraldic shield and motto “Sapiens qui prospicit” (“Wise is the person who looks ahead”), all supported on a finely shaped solid oak stand. The heraldic decoration is modelled directly into the leather rather than applied, and finished with painted and gilt detail.

A particularly strong freestanding decorative piece with real visual impact, conceived as an upright focal object rather than a purely functional fire guard.

Presented in very good antique condition, with an attractive aged patina to the oak and leather, and minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Structurally sound and stable, with the leatherwork and painted detail well preserved, clean and ready to place in the home.
