Nathaniel Mills – Fine Victorian, silver snuff box - Birmingham, 1843 66.5g, 68x43x14mm This is a superb example of the work of the pre-eminent decorative silversmith of his day. The serpentine-edged box is decorated throughout - top, bottom and sides - with fine engraved chequered cross-hatching. The interior is gilded and has good clear hallmarks to top and bottom. The snuff box has a presentation inscription to the cover: " Presented to Mr Peter Gillies by a few of the E.C.Y.F. Society in token of their esteem for him as President November 1858" My poor photographs don't do it justice.

Superb for its age - no damage or material signs of wear, other than surface scratching to the interior gilding.
I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking.
