Large Sterling Silver Hanau Jewellery Casket, 1900
D.J.MASSEY & SON
This is a Large Sterling Silver Jewellery Casket with embossed panels of village life on all four sides and lid. The base is hallmarked with a London Import mark for 1900, the other marks are Hanau Silver Marks that indicate this was made by George Roth & Company.
The interior still has a very light guilding, and there is a lock present but no key.
The casket stands on four lions feet below plain cartouches with scroll work borders.
These are also known as wedding caskets.
Dimensions:-
Length........................9 inches.
Width.....................6¼ inches.
Height...............4½ inches.
Weight............................1041.1 grams.
