Georgian Scottish Silver Pedestal Sauceboat
Fabulous 18th century Scottish silver sauce boat of unusual form of reverse stepped bowl set on an oval, stepped, pedestal base with raised strap handle and elegant spout. The flared rim has a gadrooned style border and there is similar cast detail running over the top of the handle. Hallmarked under the spout for Edinburgh 1780-1781, maker James Hewitt.
It measures 6 1/2" long, 3 1/8" wide and 4 1/2" high. It weighs 4.0ozt/125g. Condition is excellent with no damage and very light surface wear. There is a small section of solder under the foot indicating a previous repair but this is invisible on the outside. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
