George III Pair Silver Gilt Berry Spoons 1810
Very nice pair of Georgian silver berry spoons with gilded, fluted bowls with later embossed decoration of fruit and foliage within reserves with fine engraved pin-prick backgrounds. Further engraved decoration of acanthus leaves and lines of reducing and then increasing dots along the handle leading to a very intricately engraved end with a shaped reserve filled with flowers below an oval cartouche engraved as framed with laurel leaves and housing a pretty crest of a rearing horse's head. The reverse of the handles has further bright cut engraved decoration to the underneath of the terminal and the drop. Both are clearly hallmarked for London 1810, maker William Ellerby.
They measure 22.5cm (9 3/4") long with the bowls 4.8cm (1 7/8") wide and weigh 136g/4.4ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs and minimal surface wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
