Fine Victorian Silver Asparagus Server Tongs
Very handsome and substantial pair of Victorian silver asparagus tongs with a threaded border and unusual cast detail to the handle. The blades are pireced with with a dainty pattern of crosslets in an oval formed with curved bars and dots, feathery scrolls, stars, dots and shamrock shapes. Hallmarked for London 1889, makers Goldsmiths' Alliance Ltd (Joseph & Horace Savory).
They measure 24cm (9 3/8") long, 3.2cm (1 1/4") across the blades and 6cm (2 3/8") opened. They weigh 179g/5.8ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage or repair and minimal surface wear they appear very little used. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
