Edwardian Silver Cruet Set, Hukin & Heath, 1903
This is an exquisite small Edwardian Sterling Silver Cruet Set with a finger ring handle and a trefoil base standing on bun feet. It has all over reeded decoration with neat finials on the pepper shaker and mustard pot. The Cruet Set is made in Birmingham in 1903 by famous silversmiths Hukin & Heath who are best known for their connection with the great Dr Christopher Dresser who designed many pieces for them.
This set is the perfect size for one person and would be ideal for going on a dinner tray or adding a touch of elegance to a very special breakfast in bed. It would also be a great addition to any collection.
The condition of the cruet set is very good with no dings, dents or splits and just the minimal wear you would expect from well over a hundred years of use. There is a clear glass liner in the mustard pot, which is possibly not the original but is nevertheless a good fit and in good condition. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The set is 8.5cm / 3.5" long at its widest part from the foot of the salt to the end of the handle. It is 6.2cm / 2.5" across the mustard pot and pepper shaker and stands just under 6cm / 2.1" high. Without the glass liner it weighs 71.5g / 2.52oz of sterling silver. With the glass liner in the mustard pot it weighs 81.2g / 2.86oz.
The hallmarks, on the side of the pepper pot holder, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "d" for 1903 and the JTH over JHM makers' mark for John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the set.
