Edwardian Silver 3 Piece Condiment Set, 1909/10

This is a good quality Edwardian Sterling Silver Three Piece Condiment Set. The set is of bulbous form with scalloped rims and sitting on three foliate feet. It consists of an open salt, a pepper shaker and a lidded mustard pot with a blue glass liner.
The set was made by silversmiths Nathan & Hayes with the salt assayed in Chester in 1909, the mustard pot in Chester in 1910 and the pepper shaker in Birmingham in 1910. George Nathan and Ridley Hayes began their partnership in Birmingham in the late 1880s. They are particularly known for their good quality silver tableware, which they primarily assayed in Birmingham, and more personal items such as buckles, buttons and dressing table jars, which they mostly assayed in Chester. They remained in business up until around 1920.
Condition is good with no dings or dents in the silver and just one truly tiny chip in the rim of the glass liner. The lid of the mustard pot doesn't sit quite flush on the body but it remains perfectly functional. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The open salt is 5cm / 1.9ins in diameter and stands 3.5cm / 1.4ins high. The pepper shaker is 3cm / 1.2ins across and stands 7cm / 2.7ins high. The mustard pot is 7cm / 2.7ins from rim to handle, 5.3cm / 2ins in diameter and stands 5.5cm / 2.1ins high. Without the glass liner, the set of three pieces weighs in at a substantial 98.1g / 3.46oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the open salt and the mustard pot are nice and clear to read, whilst those on the pepper shaker are quite rubbed but still decipherable. On the salt and mustard they show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester and the date letter I for 1909 or K for 1910. On the pepper shaker they show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham and the date letter l for 1910. All three pieces have the G.N over R.H makers' mark for George Nathan and Ridley Hayes.
